History Day Camps
Camp One: Junior Curator Camp, Week of June 25-29
The Junior Curator program is an interdisciplinary educational experience that allows youth to take on the roles of museum staff to research, create, and install an historical exhibit.
This program encourages youth to think about historical events, people, places, or objects and go beyond what is found in textbooks. Our goal is to make youth more aware of their place in
history and encourage further exploration of objects, photos and texts in the collection of the CCHS. This program will teach youth the roles and duties of museum personnel and allow them to create an exhibit from the ground up.
Youth will:
- research using primary and secondary sources
- write exhibit text and object labels
- create publicity
- design exhibit layout and construct exhibit
- help create an opening reception for parents and public
